Clover Flowers and Roses
“What can I offer the Lord for all He has done for me?” - Psalms 116:12 As humans we require the love, relationship, and touch of other humans. We intuitively understand this even as children. I remember gifting my mother on many occasions with a bouquet of hand-picked clover flowers (adding the odd buttercup for a splash of color), because I wanted to show her that I loved her. I would present the bouquet, held together with a knotted stem, hoping she would like the flowers. Would she find my gift pleasing? She would make a show of placing [...]
The Fountain and the Flame: Chapter Three
A READER-DIRECTED STORY The Creator of All Things has opened a window to another world—a portal. We cannot step through this portal, but we may reach through with our minds. The Creator has invited us to act as Watch-keepers over Kaia and the friends she will meet along a dangerous path that lies ahead. The Watch-keepers must work together to help Kaia make good choices. These choices will not always be easy, and Kaia may not always do [...]
Storms of Life
Do you love to sit outside and watch a storm roll in? My husband tells me stories of living in West Texas and seeing the the dust storms roll in. Over the course of my life I have seen and experienced many storms such as thunderstorms, hailstorms, ice storms, tornadoes, tropical depressions, hurricanes, snowstorms, and blizzards. Have you ever noticed that these storms vary in intensity, size, and length of time? They have scales, ratings, names, and tracking signals. I can still remember the circumstances surrounding some of the storm I encountered. Once I was at the beach in [...]

Between Those Pages
My Bible is literally falling apart. I have repaired the edges with washi tape and stuffed the pages back in place in the back. But this Bible is a comfort to me. I can look through the chapters and see a date beside a verse that is underlined and the notes that remind me what God was walking us through at the time or a lesson that we were learning. I can see the pain But, I need a new cover or to replace my Bible. Over the past three decades, my history with God is tucked in between [...]
Scars
Recently, my 15-year-old son came to me with concern about some marks that were on his shoulders. I examined him and found that he had stretch marks across his shoulders. A result from growing like a weed no doubt. I explained to him what stretch marks were and told him not to worry and that everyone has them. He wanted to know when they would go away and to his horror, I told him they would not go away. He said, “You mean they are scars?”. Again, I reassured him that everyone has them. As I spoke those words, [...]

I Am the Prodigal Son’s Brother
Waiting is hard. We have all experienced waiting at some point in life. Waiting for a spouse. Waiting for a child. Waiting for that promotion at work. You’ve been diligently working towards that promotion at work and, instead, it’s given to another colleague. You’ve been praying every day for years for a child but have to watch while yet another friend announces her pregnancy. It’s confusing. It’s disappointing. [...]
